Hello again and happy February! Some of you have been very patient and that patience is about to be rewarded. That’s right, we finally have a date. On February 13th we will be opening up the v3.0 Beta Program. If you have been itching to try out v3 then mark your calendars, make a backup of your data, and go register for a free tester account over at MacDeveloper.net. You should also send us an email as we will only be letting in so many people.
If you don’t like problems or risking your productivity, then it would be best to let other people take the plunge while you wait for the official release on the Mac App Store.
Until then, let us wet your whistle with some more tantalizing screenshots of v3.0.
Watchlist Heat Maps
You are tracking tens if not hundreds of securities and your watchlists are looking a bit like spreadsheets. There has to be a better way to visualize that data and get important at-a-glance information. We have come up with watchlist heat maps to do just that.

Select any watchlist, or combination of watchlists, and click on the new heat map button. The chart pane will switch over to this new view and BAM all of the securities in your watchlist are now color coded according to their daily percentage change.
We expect to be building this feature out further in the future with more metrics supported to make it even more indispensable.
News – Curated By You™
Up until now, Pro users have had one source of news within the app, Yahoo Finance. While that is okay, we felt and users told us that they need more. A lot more. That is why we have ripped out all of the guts of the old news feature and have completely rewritten it from the ground up. No more reliance on Apple’s PubSub background daemon. No more one trick pony news feeds. Users can add as many custom RSS and Atom feeds as they want per stock.
Each feed is color coded so you can quickly tell what news source an article is coming from. All securities come with the Yahoo Finance feed by default, add or subtract to your heart’s content.
Investing Doesn’t Have to Be Lonely
We all know that the newspaper is yesterday’s news. When a stock makes a big move, even the major news outlets can be slow to report on it. That is why we have added in realtime StockTwit feeds. See what real people are saying about your stocks and what professionals are bearish and bullish on.
A Note About Portfolios
As some of you may already know, we have put a hold on portfolios until v3.1 or v3.2. We did not feel that we could deliver a quality experience with all of the other changes that we have already made and are working on refining. After v3.0 is released and we feel that everything is rock solid we will finish up what we have already started on with Portfolios. Every existing pro user will get portfolios as a free update.
